Mr. Rosenblum Dreams in English was written about the author’s grandparents. You can see a picture of her grandparents at http://natashasolomons.com.
The Rosenblums flee from Germany to England and try their best to become English in every sense. He was even given a pamphlet, teaching him how to assimilate.
Jack has incredible guts and money sense. He becomes a carpet businessman—the largest one in London. That is not enough. He wants to be more English. He keeps wanting and wanting, not knowing he already has it all.
The character development is superb. There is such a lesson to learn from this book.
This is a good book, but it does lull in a few spots. The beginning is very slow. This is not a book for just a casual reader; it is deep. Just be patient and trudge on; it is worth the ride!
